Pizza Nachos

Nachos are one of the tastiest snacks, and this is a very fun twist! People seem to usually enjoy watching football this time of year, so it seems fitting to serve a snack that’s fun to eat during the game (We’re not those people, though. We’d rather watch a movie instead). The classic flavors of pizza- including pepperoni and bell pepper- mixed up with a lot of cheese and sauce equals the perfect game day appetizer that all the people in your life will enjoy snacking on. We made these nachos for our brothers a while ago, and they loved them! These certainly are not a healthy snack, but they are fun and easy to customize. Mushrooms would be a good addition, or chicken, and to make these vegetarian, omit the pepperoni. They are very simple and are so good!

Pizza Nachos

Recipe from Tasty Kitchen

Serves 3-4

Ingredients

For the garlic cream sauce:

1½ tablespoons unsalted butter

½ tablespoon olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup heavy cream

¼ cup milk

Salt and pepper to taste

1 pinch red pepper flakes

¼ cup Parmesan cheese, Grated

For the nachos: Tortilla chips (about 1/2 bag for a single batch)

½ cups garlic cream sauce

¼ cup diced onions

½ cup pepperoni, cut into bite-sized pieces

½ cups black olives, sliced

½ whole green bell pepper, seeded and diced

1 cup Colby Jack Cheese, shredded

Directions

For the sauce:

Begin by melting the butter, along with the olive oil on medium-low heat. Once melted, stir  in the minced garlic. Raise the heat up to medium heat. Stir in the cream and milk. Keep stirring until the mixture comes to a boil. Add in the salt, pepper, and chili flakes, along with the cheese, and continue stirring. Let the sauce thicken slightly, then remove from the heat (if your sauce isn’t thick enough, add a bit more cheese- that’s what we did).

For the nachos:

Preheat the oven. In a rimmed baking sheet (or cast iron skillet), lay down the chips. Pour the garlic cream sauce over the chips. Top with the onions, pepperoni, olives, and bell pepper. Layer the ingredients so that only the chips on top have the toppings. Top with the shredded Colby Jack cheese. Place in the preheated oven, and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbling, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve. Enjoy!
